The draft is this Sunday, September 1 at 4:30pm. We having the draft at Rob's house this year. His address is 11239 Ashcake Rd. Ashland, VA 23005. Rob says we can use his hotspot, but I doubt it can handle all of us so make other arrangements if you can. Don't forget a table and chair

I'm still hearing complaints about how the changes we've made to our scoring system have sent scores soaring. I have contended all along the 2018 was an outlier, and that our scoring was higher because scoring in the NFL was higher. I created an alternate version of our website, where scoring was changed in past years to use the scoring system from 2018, but I don't think any of you looked at it. Frankly, even with the website, it's difficult to draw comparisons because you can only look at one year at a time.

So, I created a spreadsheet that compares scoring for the last 12 years. Hopefully, it's pretty self-explanatory, but here are the highlights:

• The most significant thing to note is that in 2018, six teams scored more than 500 points. Using the same scoring system, no more than two teams scored more than 500 points in any other year.
• In 2012, Claude's team would have scored 560 points using the new scoring system, which is the highest score in that 12 year span. The second highest total was CNN in 2018. The top four scores over those 12 years: Claude (560) in 2012, CNN (549) in 2018, Dean (547) in 2013 and Dave (535) in 2017.
• The average final score for 2018 was 478.6 points, which was the highest average in the 12-year span. The next highest average was 460.3 points in 2013. Keep in mind this is using the exact same scoring system for every year.
• The scoring changes we've made have increased the average team score for a year around 50 points from the average based on the scoring rules in place prior to 2016.

The draft order for 2019 has been set. We made one rule change, which is to allow lineup changes after 1pm on Sunday if those players games are not in progress.

Traditionally, we draw draft picks during the HOF game, which is the first preseason game of the year. This year that game is on Thursday, August 1. Let the points soar!
